Do it yourself
The saying "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" certainly applies when it comes to the Windows registry. The registry is, in fact, very, very easy to edit and change, but if you only have a slight idea as to what you're doing, it can be disastrous!
Sometimes, the error message you get when you discover your computer has a registry error tells you the name of the program or the process. Once you have that, you can attempt to find the entry in the registry that's causing the problem. But first, of course, you have to access the registry.
Opening the registry is very easy. Go to Windows, click on run, and type "regedit." This opens up the registry editor and allows you to change anything in the registry that you want. Often, people who don't quite know what they're doing will end up creating even more registry problems even if they fix the original issue.
Find a computer geek
Another option, of course, is to go in search of a relative or friend who is a self-proclaimed "computer expert." Plus, people are more likely to experiment on your computer instead of their own. If they cause you even more registry problems, they're going to go home to their working computer and leave you stranded.
